About The Book

"Rabir Aloy: Ak Kabyik Abhijatra" is a Bengali Poetry Book that offers a heartfelt endeavour to rediscover, through poetry, the life of Rabindranath Tagore and the remarkable journey of his inner world.
Rather than following the conventional biographical approach of presenting dates, events and historical facts in chronological order, this book explores Tagore’s life as an ever-evolving journey of consciousness—a remarkable passage from the sensitive young boy of Jorasanko to the poet, thinker, educationist and universal humanist whose vision gradually transcended the boundaries of nation, culture and time, embracing a profound and universal sense of humanity.
The poems capture significant phases and experiences of his life: his childhood and formative years at Jorasanko, his encounters with the wider world, the quiet and contemplative years at Shilaidaha, his personal grief and bereavements, the luminous period of the creation of Gitanjali, the realisation of his educational ideals at Santiniketan, and his growing engagement with the larger concerns of human society and universal humanity.
The purpose of this book is not merely to recount the experiences Tagore went through, but also to illuminate how those experiences enriched and transformed his imagination, philosophy, creativity and understanding of human existence. His life, as portrayed here, does not remain a distant historical narrative; instead, it unfolds as a living journey, inviting readers to walk alongside him, step by step.
At the heart of this book lies a profound understanding of the process of becoming—an exploration of how experience, sorrow, love, nature, creativity and introspection gradually expand the human soul and deepen its understanding of life.
By giving poetic expression to Tagore’s life journey, this book is both a humble tribute to an extraordinary human being and an invitation to readers to follow the paths of his life and thoughts into the depths of their own inner worlds. It encourages them to rediscover their personal journeys in search of truth, beauty, freedom and light.

About The Author

Soumen Roy (born December 1968) is a poet from Bhatibari village in the Alipurduar district of West Bengal, India, and holds a postgraduate degree in English Literature. A sensitive and reflective voice in contemporary Bengali poetry, his writings explore human emotions, the experiences of everyday life and the many-layered complexities of human existence.
The central concern of his poetry is the inner world of human beings—love, pain, silence, solitude, self-discovery and the unspoken feelings that quietly shape our lives. His poetic expression is distinguished by restrained language, thoughtful simplicity and an underlying philosophical depth. Through personal experiences and quiet introspection, he continues to explore the deeper meanings of life. To him, poetry is not merely an expression of emotions; it is a profound dialogue between one soul and another.
Although deeply rooted in personal experience, his poetry gradually reaches towards a broader and more universal sense of humanity. Readers may discover echoes of their own emotions, reflections and existential questions in his writings.
His published poetry collections include Jhorapatar Dinolipi, Jekhane Shabdo Furoy, Prem Kande Na, Alochhayar Nirob Jiban, Walking With Tagore: A Poetic Biography and Rabir Aloy: Ak Kabyik Abhijatra.
Within the introspective and contemplative tradition of Bengali poetry, Soumen Roy seeks a restrained yet evocative poetic language through which the visible world gradually opens towards the invisible. His poetry invites readers to return to their inner selves, encounter the deeper layers of their own being, and experience life with greater sensitivity and awareness.
