About The Book
Coincidence: A Story Written By Fate
Some meetings are forgotten before the day ends. Others quietly become part of our lives.
Set in the small coastal town of Contai, West Bengal, Coincidence: A Story Written By Fate is a gentle coming-of-age story about friendship, dreams, memory and the mysterious ways in which people enter one another's lives.
Rudra is quiet, observant and more comfortable with silence than words. Sayak, his cheerful and fearless best friend, is the voice of their friendship. Reshma is thoughtful, sincere and quietly determined to build a future through education. Their lives begin to cross through ordinary places a bus stop beneath an old banyan tree, a public library, a tea stall and the classrooms of Rajbir Sir's coaching centre.
What begins as a series of seemingly accidental meetings slowly develops into something neither Rudra nor Reshma knows how to name. A forgotten page, a few unfinished conversations and the presence of an understanding teacher add layers to a story that is as much about unspoken feelings as it is about growing up. As the characters move through examinations, family expectations, personal dreams and the uncertainties of the future, they begin to discover that coincidence may bring people together-but it cannot make every choice for them.
Quiet, emotional and reflective, Coincidence explores the delicate space between friendship and love, the memories we carry, and the words we leave unsaid. It is a story for anyone who has ever wondered whether a meeting was merely accidental or written by fate.
