About The Book

The Wandering Nobody is the pen name of Squadron Leader S. Selvaratnam, a retired European/Chartered Engineer whose life and career have taken him through a remarkably varied range of experiences in Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom.
Born and raised in Sri Lanka, he later settled in Britain, where he pursued a career spanning engineering, the Royal Air Force, the defence industry, technical assurance, quality management, finance management, corporate auditing, and major infrastructure projects. Alongside his professional life, he has maintained a long-standing involvement in community, charitable, cultural, educational, and sporting activities.
Retirement provided him with something that a busy working life rarely allows in abundance: time to reflect. Drawing upon a lifetime of observation, reading, travel, professional experience, community involvement, and encounters with people from many different backgrounds, he began writing about the questions that have long fascinated him—human behaviour, faith, spirituality, relationships, conflict, and the forces that quietly influence the way we live.
His first book, The Human Question: Faith, Conflict & Consciousness, explored questions of faith, belief, human conflict, and consciousness. His second, Spiritual Growth – Uncharted Waters, continued that journey through a layperson's exploration of spirituality, religion, doubt, and personal growth.
In this, his third book, Jealousy – The Silent Force That Shapes Human Life, he turns his attention to one of humanity's most familiar yet least openly acknowledged emotions. Drawing upon history, religion, psychology, literature, politics, family relationships, contemporary society, and everyday human experience, he explores how jealousy and envy can influence behaviour—sometimes quietly, sometimes destructively, and occasionally as a stimulus for personal growth.
He makes no claim to be an academic, philosopher, theologian, or psychologist. He writes instead as an ordinary person who has spent a lifetime observing an extraordinary subject: human nature.

About The Author

The name The Wandering Nobody reflects that philosophy. He wanders through ideas without claiming ownership of absolute truths, asking questions, considering different perspectives, and inviting readers to arrive at conclusions of their own.
For him, writing is not about having all the answers. It is about remaining curious enough to keep asking the questions.
