Prof. Binay Shanker Roy is a distinguished academician, former Head of the University Department of English, and an experienced mentor with nearly four decades of experience in higher education. He has served in key academic and administrative roles at B.R. Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, including Proctor of the University and Director of the Malviya Mission Teachers Training Centre. Over the years, he has successfully guided numerous doctoral scholars and contributed significantly in shaping literary scholarship across India through his association with several national bodies and institutions.

Prof. Roy is especially known for his deep engagement with Indian Writing in English, particularly the Indian English novel. His scholarship reflects a sustained interest in tracing the evolution of the novel in India, from its colonial beginnings to its contemporary global presence. His work brings together historical understanding, textual analysis, and critical interpretation, making complex literary developments accessible without losing their depth.
