About The Book

The study of Muslim law occupies a significant place in legal education because it represents one of the world’s oldest and most influential legal traditions. Far beyond a set of legal rules, Muslim law embodies a comprehensive system of ethics, justice, social responsibility, and governance derived from divine revelation and developed through centuries of scholarly interpretation. Understanding its historical evolution, jurisprudential foundations, and contemporary application is essential for students, legal practitioners, researchers, and academicians alike.
This book, Muslim Law: Tradition, Reform and Justice, has been written with the objective of presenting the subject in a clear, systematic, and academically rigorous manner. It bridges the gap between classical Islamic jurisprudence and modern legal developments by explaining not only the traditional principles of Muslim law but also their relevance in contemporary constitutional and legal frameworks, particularly in India.
