About the Book
Naad Chikitsa is a research-based academic book that explores the scientific relationship between music, psychology, and human health. The book focuses on the therapeutic role of music in reducing stress and improving mental well-being through the principles of Naad Chikitsa (Sound Therapy). It presents an interdisciplinary approach by combining concepts from music, psychology, neuroscience, and health sciences.
A major focus of this book is the role of the cortisol hormone, commonly known as the stress hormone. It explains how prolonged stress increases cortisol levels and how elevated cortisol can negatively affect physical health, emotional balance, cognitive performance, and overall quality of life. The book further discusses how music, when used systematically, can help regulate emotional responses, promote relaxation, and support the reduction of stress.
The content is based on scientific literature, psychological theories, and contemporary research findings related to music therapy and sound healing. The book highlights the psychological mechanisms through which music influences the human brain, emotions, and hormonal responses. It also examines the practical applications of Naad Chikitsa in educational, clinical, and everyday settings.
Designed for researchers, academicians, students, psychologists, music therapists, healthcare professionals, and readers interested in the therapeutic power of music, this book offers valuable insights into the integration of traditional Indian concepts of sound with modern scientific research.
