About The Book
Rewiring Pain: The Modern Science of Neuromodulation Pain is no longer viewed merely as a symptom arising from damaged tissues. Modern medicine now recognizes pain as a complex interaction between nerves, the spinal cord, the brain, emotions, inflammation, and human behavior. Rewiring Pain explores this revolutionary understanding and presents neuromodulation as one of the most promising frontiers in contemporary pain medicine.
Designed for clinicians, pain physicians, orthopedic surgeons, rheumatologists, physiotherapists, and healthcare professionals, this book bridges the gap between neuroscience and practical clinical application. It simplifies complex neurophysiological concepts and translates them into real-world therapeutic strategies that can transform patient outcomes.
The book comprehensively discusses the science behind peripheral and central sensitization, descending inhibitory pathways, neuroplasticity, and chronic pain transition. It further explores both non-invasive and interventional neuromodulation techniques including TENS, spinal decompression, laser therapy, shockwave therapy, regenerative procedures, spinal cord stimulation, and emerging technologies shaping the future of pain care.
Rooted in evidence-based medicine and enriched with clinical insights, algorithms, case discussions, and practical pearls, this work aims to help clinicians move beyond symptom suppression toward restoration of function and quality of life.
More than a textbook, Rewiring Pain is a call to rethink pain itself — not as a life sentence, but as a modifiable neurological process that can be influenced, retrained, and healed.
About The Author
Dr. G. Suresh Babu is an Orthopedic Surgeon and Orthopedic Rheumatologist with a special interest in pain medicine, regenerative orthopedics, rheumatology, and neuromodulation-based therapies. With years of clinical experience managing complex musculoskeletal and chronic pain disorders, he has developed a strong passion for bridging evidence-based medicine with practical, patient-centered care.
He serves as the Managing Director of M S Multispeciality Hospital, Pithapuram, Andhra Pradesh, a rapidly growing healthcare institution dedicated to comprehensive and affordable medical services in rural India. Under his leadership, the hospital has evolved into a multidisciplinary center focused on ethical healthcare, innovation, and academic excellence.
Dr. Suresh Babu is deeply involved in advancing office orthopedics, non-surgical pain management, and modern rehabilitation approaches. His work emphasizes understanding pain not merely as a structural problem, but as a dynamic neurological process influenced by inflammation, neuroplasticity, biomechanics, and psychosocial factors.
An active academician and educator, he is also the founder of PACE (Pithapuram Association for Clinical Excellence), an initiative aimed at promoting continuous medical education, clinical research, and scientific publishing. Through lectures, workshops, digital education platforms, and medical writing, he strives to make advanced pain science and musculoskeletal care more accessible to clinicians and patients alike.
Through this book, Dr. Suresh Babu shares his vision of integrating neuroscience, compassion, and innovation to redefine the future of pain management and functional recovery.
