About the Book

The False God follows Shakha, a young Ivonian who returns home after spending five years imprisoned in Exile, a high-security prison. He expects to find the world he left behind. Instead, almost everything feels unfamiliar. Shakha has returned without his wings, without his powers, and without a home to go back to. The only thing he still has is a desire for revenge against the King, whom he blames for what happened to his family. But as he tries to understand what happened while he was gone, he begins to realize that there is much more to his world than he remembers. Evermore is filled with old stories, legendary warriors, powerful kingdoms, and a history that stretches back centuries. As tensions rise and another war begins to threaten the land, Shakha finds himself drawn into that history. The more he learns, however, the less certain he becomes about what he thought he knew. At its heart, The False God is a story about revenge, power, history, and the way stories can shape how people see their world. It follows a young man trying to find his place in a world that has changed without him, while slowly discovering that some of its oldest truths may not be what they seem.

About the Author 

Arjan is a sixteen-year-old fantasy writer from the suburbs of Paris. He began writing The False God at the age of thirteen, inspired by a love for mythology and fantasy literature. This is his debut fiction and the first story set in the world of Evermore. His first attempt at writing was a picture book titled Super Pig, written and illustrated at the age of eight.
