About The Book

She thought she was only leaving for a few days.

A train ticket.

A window seat.

A road leading somewhere she had never been.

Shloka had always felt that something inside her was waiting to be found. Trapped between the life everyone understood and the life she could not yet explain, she carried a restlessness she had learned to hide.

Then, one ordinary night, she said yes.

What begins as an impulsive journey through unfamiliar cities, mountain roads, sleepless nights and fleeting friendships slowly becomes something else. Something she never planned for.

There are places that change you without asking.

People who arrive without staying.

Silences that reveal more than conversations ever could.

And somewhere between the mountains, the river, and the road back home, Shloka begins to notice that the person she has been searching for may have been with her all along.

But some journeys are not meant to be understood while you're living them.

They are meant to be felt.

The Night, I Chose Myself is a quiet, introspective story about leaving without knowing why, finding pieces of yourself in unexpected places, and returning home with a secret you cannot quite put into words.

Because sometimes, the most mysterious place you can travel to… is yourself.

About The Author

Silki Solanki is a writer, storyteller, and wanderer who finds inspiration in the quiet details of life—the pause between conversations, the stories hidden in strangers’ eyes, the feeling a place leaves behind, and the emotions we sometimes struggle to put into words.

Her relationship with writing began quietly. Before there were stories, there were thoughts scribbled in notebooks, unfinished poems, scattered lines, and feelings that found their way onto paper when speaking aloud felt insufficient. With time, writing became more than something she enjoyed; it became a language of its own—a way to understand herself, observe people, and make sense of the world around her.

Silki has always been drawn to books, poetry, travel, and human nature. She carries pieces of the places she visits and the people she meets, often transforming fleeting moments into memories and memories into stories.

Her debut book, The Night, I Chose Myself, grew from this deeply personal way of seeing the world. What began as a journey through unfamiliar roads, mountains, rivers, friendships, and quiet moments gradually became a journey inward—a story about freedom, uncertainty, belonging, and the courage to choose oneself.

She does not believe every story needs to explain everything. Some stories are meant to leave a question behind, a feeling that lingers, or a small reflection of ourselves.

For Silki, writing is a way of holding on to the moments life asks us to let go of—and perhaps, somewhere between her words, you may find a piece of your own story.
